Car #31
The car was built by Don Collins in 1957 to race in the USAC Champ races. It was built with an Offy and did not make the show in 57 due to the extremely competitive cars that year. Don Collins and Keith Randal built a 1957 Desoto Hemi which developed more horsepower then the Offy and qualified it 8th at Phoenix in 1960. It was the first car with a stock block engine to qualify for a USAC Champ race. Don Collins kept the car until his death in 2003. Delmar McClure of Portland Oregon, now owns the car and has restored it with the Desoto Hemi. Lately Palmer Crowell has been the driver.
